Business of Illustration is a website dedicated to teaching professional practices to illustrators.

The website was launched in 2014 by Neil Swaab to help demystify the challenging field of illustration for new and aspiring artists. It covers a variety of topics including process, pricing and promotion. The articles have clear takeaways, offering advice that many new illustrators may not have even considered yet. It also has a resources page, chock-full of useful links for illustrators.

Neil Swaab is a New York-based illustrator, art director, and writer. He has worked with Google, Adult Swim, and The New York Times. His work has been recognised by The Society of Illustrators, Print Magazine, and Type Directors Club among others. He taught a Professional Practices class for illustrators at Parsons the New School for Design, so you can trust Swaab’s advice draws on years of experience.
