Lessons from the Screenplay (LFTS) examines the techniques screenwriters use to make the films and TV shows we love.
After years of various film editing jobs, Michael Tucker was looking for a way to share his own content. He launched LFTS on YouTube in June of 2016 “part educational series and part love letter to awesome films.”
LFTS encourages people to look beneath the gloss of films and analyse the structure. Each episode explores the building blocks of a story; character, motif, structure, and stereotypes. Tucker believes that a more informed audience creates a deeper appreciation and helps to raise the bar for storytelling.
Here are some of our episode recommendations:
- Independence Day — What Makes it So Great
- Searching — Reformatting a Thriller
- The Hidden Structure of Before Sunset
- Aliens vs. Terminator 2 — How to Sequel like James Cameron
