Maciej Kuciara initially worked as a concept artist for video games Crysis, Crysis 2 and The Last of Us before switching mediums and focusing on film. His first film project was for Twentieth Century Fox’s X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014). He has since worked with Legendary Pictures, Columbia Pictures, and Universal Pictures. Kuciara has also worked on two Marvel Studios films, Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) and the upcoming Captain America: Civil War (2016).
Kuciara teaches on Learn Squared. A learning hub founded by industry-leading artists. He, and other professionals, teach their techniques to one another. So each course has two artists from completely different fields, demonstrating and discussing industry-level processes. You can also find some of Kuciara’s videos on his YouTube channel and Gumroad.
Kuciara’s is confident in many mediums, be it digital painting, 3D render, or traditional pen and ink. All his work has richly detailed fabrics, textures and backgrounds that have yours eyes dotting around the canvas to see it all. His style too changes depending on the project and tools. I particularly like his gritty, Akira-inspired illustrations for his upcoming comic, Showtime.
You can see more of Maciej Kuciara’s on his website and Instagram.
