  1. Phobs

Very popular deviantArt illustrator, Phobs, packs her gallery with vivid characters donning carefully observed outfits. Never scared of detail she regularly dress a scene with an array of elaborate fabrics. As an avid mix-media artist, Phobs is able to incorporate a range of textures in her work. It’s this attention to detail that really tell the story of her characters and bring them to life.

  2. Manga Mondays ~ May Ann Licudine

Absolutely beautiful work from this month’s Manga Mondays artist. May Ann Licudine, aka Mall, lives and works in the Philippines. Her portfolio is a mixed bag with pieces ranging from fun and dream-like to sombre. One look at it reveals she is equally skilled in both sculpture and illustration. I personally adore her brightly-coloured paintings, preferably the ones with cats. Check out more of her work on her deviantArt page.

  3. Lois Van Baarle aka Loish

The label “Internet Famous” gets thrown about a lot these days, not always justifiably, but after amassing a huge fan-base on sites like deviantArt and Facebook, I believe Lois Van Baarle has definitely earned it. Born in Holland, Lois Van Baarle studied animation in Ghent, Belgium, then continued her studies at Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht (HKU). Lois is currently working as a freelance illustrator and animator with international clients including Channel 4, CBBC, and Centre National du Jeu. All the while self-funding and developing her animation project, Trichrome. Check out her website for more stunning work. Also her FAQ is a very useful read for those looking to to start a career in illustration or wanting to learn more about digital techniques.
