Violeta Hernández

Illustrator and graphic designer Violeta Hernández has a feminine style (I hope I can say that) which is soft and gentle. Her graphic design background perhaps influences her overall style; she uses white backgrounds to let her work take centre stage. Even the choice of frames and furniture from the ‘real world’ feel part of her drawings and sculptures. Her work is often photographed rather than scanned, which lets us into her chosen environment. The illustrations are just a part of something bigger, more whole, it seems. Here’s a nice excerpt from her About page:

“Violeta has reveled against the vectorial world due to her complete subjugation to computer formats throughout her career. Instead, she finds herself at ease in drawing, paper’s texture, the effervescence of colour, inks, shades and fine lines that can only be obtained when working by hand. The artist creates surreal atmospheres & flows through her design process, which permeates her work with neatness, singular balance and -sometimes- sublime chaos.”
