Laura Bifano

Laura Bifano is an illustrator based in Vancouver, Canada. She has worked as a concept artist, storyboard artist, and editorial illustrator. She has exhibited in multiple gallery shows including Thinkspace, Spoke, Gallery 1988, Nucleus, and the Los Angeles Municipal gallery. Her clients include Hasbro, Boom! Studios, The Washington Post, The Calgary Herald and Parks Canada.

Bifano grew up on the rainy pacific northwest of Canada, running around and drawing pictures. Spending her summers with family in logging camps out in the middle of the woods. I am sure we can all agree, that sounds incredible. She studied at the Alberta College of Art and Design, and graduated in 2008.

She has divided her time between freelance and personal work. She worked as a storyboard artist on the award-winning series, “Raven Tales”, and the feature film “Ratchet and Clank”. She has also created background art and character design for many other animated shows.

Inspired by fairytale and folklore Bifano’s work is whimsical and lighthearted. Using a blend of gouache and chalk pastel her colours are vivid but find balance by sticking to a harmonious colour range. She regularly experiments with style, pushing it in different directions, and occasionally trying something completely new.
