Justin Erickson is a Canadian illustrator and graphic designer. Inspired by vintage art, comic books, the macabre, and the bizarre. He has worked with Dark Horse Comics, Lions Gate Entertainment, Rue Morgue Magazine, Twitch Film, and regularly collaborates with Mondo.
Erickson studied Illustration at the prestigious Sheridan College in Toronto, Canada. He graduated in 2005, and two years later landed his dream job as a Graphic Designer for leading horror in culture and entertainment magazine, Rue Morgue. In 2012, he became the magazine’s Art Director.
In 2010, while still working full-time at Rue Morgue, Erickson co-founded Phantom City Creative. Working alongside fellow Sheridan alumni, Paige Reynolds, the independent studio specialises in entertainment design for film. Designing logos, gig posters, album covers, magazine covers and magazine interiors. Erickson left Rue Morgue in 2013 to focus on Phantom City Creative.
Last year Erickson collaborated with Mondo to produce a Batman: The Animated Series Vinyl Box Set. Featuring 16 full episode scores on 8 disc. Erickson created artwork for each episode, perfectly capturing the original style. Getting the dark tone just right, each image would have fit right in as BTAS title card.
