Jeannie Phan

Jeannie Phan is an award-winning freelance illustrator based in Toronto, Canada. Working largely in editorial and advertising, Phan’s clients include New York Times, New Yorker, Scholastic, Penguin Books and British Airways.

Hailing from the prairies of Canada, Phan studied Illustration at OCAD University in Toronto. In 2012, right after graduating, she moved to a little studio in downtown Toronto. For the first year, Phan took a part-time job to lessen the stress of becoming a freelancer.

She started off mostly as a graphic designer, but after the first year, she put her efforts into illustrating full-time and began to turn down design jobs. Also after the first year she transitioned from working entirely traditionally to digital, finding it more flexible and efficient.

Phan’s work is minimalistic, relying on shapes to communicate and lines to enhance. It uses grain and muted tones to give it a serene and mature feel. All of which she juxtaposes frequently with a touch of the surreal.

You can find more of Jeannie Phan’s work on her website, Dribbble, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. You can pick up Phan’s prints on INPRNT and find out more about her here.
