Bob Peak (1927–1992)

Happy birthday Bob! Mr. Peak is often credited as one of the fathers of modern movie poster design, and in his career produced over 100 of them. Some of his most famous ones include My Fair Lady (1964), Camelot (1967), Superman (1978), and Apocalypse Now (1979). Like most illustrator’s Peak was drawing from a very young age, but unlike most by nine his illustrations already had recognizable likenesses. Graduating from collage in 1951, and landing his first big break two years later, his career snowballed. He was illustrating for Sports Illustrated, the U.S. Postal Service and the 1984 Summer Olympics. Bob Peak has had a huge affect on the illustration world, and thus establishments such as the Artists Guild of New York, the Society of Illustrators and the Hollywood Reporter have all honoured him.
