Manga Mondays ~ Jennee Yang

Jennee Yang, is a Graphic Designer and Illustrator based in Toronto, Canada. Much of her illustration work is under the alias of “Draa.”

Doodling from young, manga and anime made its impression on Yang early on. She fell in love with the art styles of TV shows Sailor Moon and Pokemon. Discovering Oekaki message boards during her high school years, she began drawing more frequently. She studied Graphic Design at the York University/Sheridan College Joint Program in Design. Where she earned a greater appreciation of typography, composition and colour theory.

Yang has had many titles over the years. “Graphic Designer” for Alter Ego Productions, “Concept Artist” for Table Forged, and “Lead Designer” at Studio Kontrabida. Comfortably straddling two disciplines, both her graphic design and illustration work has been heavily inspired by Japanese pop culture. She has cited graphic designers, Shigeo Fukuda and Tang Yau Hoong as particular favourites. As well as a host of manga artist, including George Kamitani, and Renji Murata.
