I am loving quirky style of French comic creator Nicolas Sure. His illustrations are loose and expressive when drawing people and landscapes, but then really tightens up when drawing architecture. He also often uses an analogous colour scheme for the majority of his panel and guides the readers attention to the main point of interest by using complementary colours. It a trick he uses with great success. You can see a lot more of his work over on his blog, or you could try picking up one of his comics (French language only).
