Jasper Wong

Jasper Wong is an artist/illustrator hailing from in Hawai‘i. His work has been exhibited world-wide and published in magazines including Communication Arts, Hi-Fructose, Complex, Vice, and Juxtapoz. Mr. Wong also founded the Hong Kong gallery, Above Second and another in Honolulu called Loft in Space. Not stopping there, Jasper Wong is also creator and lead director of Pow Wow Hawaii, a non-profit organization of contemporary artists, and a community art centre called Lana Lane Studios, which is a combination of private studio spaces and a fully functional art school for the youth of Hawai‘i.

With all these great endeavours aside, Jasper Wong’s illustration style is an unmatched interpretation of pop-culture with an Asian influence. Recurring characters, such as Mr. T and Chairman Mao, and themes, such as amputation and rainbows, creative unsettling but humours narratives. His more recent work, using paint, are much more frantic and expressive but thankfully equally as strange. Be sure to check out more of his work on his website.
