The heightened sounds and realistic textures grip you for the start. The shipwrecked fisherman fights his way through a storm and clouded memory. He takes shelter in a dimly lit refuge. And as he slowly remembers, the scenes alternate between beautiful tones of blues and reds before culminating in a sobering conclusion.

The idea for the film came from a chat we had when we first started the studio. We all decided we wanted to try make a short film that pushed animation out of it’s comfort zone and towards something more mature and cinematic.

Giant was founded in 2012 by Sean Mullen, Ben Harper, Alex Sherwood and Daniel Spencer. They started out as a freelance collective, working from their bedrooms, before transitioning to fully fledged studio. Now, employing over 60 talented people from all over the world, the independent animation studio has developed and produced ideas for television, feature film, games and everything in between.
