Celles et Ceux des Cimes et Cieux

Celles et Ceux des Cimes et Cieux, which translates to “Girls and Guys from Summits and Skies,” is an animated short trailer for a fictitious science fiction film. It tells the story of a young boy who lives in a village that’s perched on a giant tree, who one day falls into the depths of the forest. There he meets two forest-dwelling strangers who help him return home.

Créapole animation student, Gwenn Germain, spent five intensive months alone in his room, to produce the trailer for his final project. Drawing inspiration from artist Hayao Miyazaki, Jean Giraud, and Syd Mead the gorgeous trailer is very much a love letter to their work.

The trailer was selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick. It rapidly spread across creative news sites and social media. Even earning a special mention Spark Animation 2015. You can see some of the development work for Celles et Ceux des Cimes et Cieux on Gwenn Germain’s DeviantArt.
