Between Times

Between Times is an award-winning fairy tale short directed by Ru Kuwahata and Max Porter. It is a blend of traditional stop-motion techniques with innovative digital animation techniques. It has been screened at more than 80 film festivals and has won 10 awards.

The film is told through the perspective of a cuckoo clock on the wall of a bakery to illustrate the relativity of time. The clock narrates the events it witnesses unfolding from the forming and evolving of a relationship to the daily repetition of bread being sliced.

Since 2008, Kuwahata & Porter have been working together as Tiny Inventions. They have directed and produced TV commercials, music videos, and independent films. Between Times started while they were artists-in-residence at the Netherlands Institute for Animation Film (NIAF) in 2011-2012. You can find out more about the film here.
