René Gruau‘s work is iconic and there are no doubt that he has strongly influence the world of fashion illustration. Gruau’s elegant line work and artistry emphasised the Haute Couture fashion it was advertising. Last year Summerset House held a wonderful exhibition featuring some of the ground-breaking work he did whilst at Dior. This summer’s Christian Dior’s Haute Couture Collection, designed by John Galliano, has been inspired by the work of René Gruau.
