Manga Mondays ~ Takeshi Obata

Manga Mondays ~ Takeshi Obata

Artist and mentor Takeshi Obata is possibly best known as the illustrator of hugely popular manga series Death Note. Obata’s first break came at the age of 16, when his one shot 500 Kōnen no shinwa won the Tezuka Award. He later went on to create Hikaru no Go, and in 2006, Death Note which earned him an Nominated-Eisner Award for Best Artist. Obata’s style is very crisp with tight line-work but his characters are often “edgy” and always stylish. If you’re looking to start a new series Death Note is an exceptional (and pretty cheap series) to get into.

  1. This is inspiring

  2. Which manga is the first image from? With the girl?

  3. Where is the first image from? I vaguely remember reading the manga where she’s from but I forgot the name.
