Alina is a freelance illustrator and architecture student from Romania. She uses photography, traditional and digital methods to create her work. Witty, provocative and intelligent, with visuals that’ll send you into a delightful frenzy; that’s how I’d describe her work in a sentence. There’s always something a little bit different and edgy about each piece of work, so I hope you enjoy the post. Thanks for getting in touch, Alina! Head on over to her Behance page to see more.

FebManga Mondays ~ Chong FeiGiap
Malaysian manga artist Chong FeiGiap has some stunning work available to see on Deviant Art. The portfolio consists of different sections, so look out for the ‘Schoolgirl’ section which has some incredible background art, as well as the ‘Traditional and Student Period’ section for more realistic work. The background art includes a great piece which has traditional houses stacked on top of one another, seemingly reaching for the heavens. See for yourself…

SepWillie Real
Willie Real is an ex-Blue Sky Studios environment designers, and part-time Google doodler. I stumbled on Mr. Real’s work a few years back and fell in love with his confident pen work. His illustrations are like refined sketches—all the movement and expression of a sketch, with wonderfully clear and controlled line work. How he managed to marry the two so well is what makes his work so inspiring. You can keep up to date with Willie Real’s antics on his blog.

JunTheo Prins
Theo Prins is an incredible digital painter from the United States. He has a way of directing the viewer by using light and perspective. I love his style, it’s all washy and vague but with incredible detail. To have the imagination to create these worlds is astonishing. Sometimes, I look at the paintings and think ‘this could be planet Earth in some other time or dimension…’ The buildings and scenery are almost magical. See more here.

MayJess Douglas
Jess Douglas is currently based in Lyme Regis, but grew up on party island Ibiza. Jess mainly creates drawings from life, with a splash of personal style thrown into the mix. This is a person who I imagine carries a sketchbook around all over the place, ever improving. Probably as a direct result of this, cars, buildings and people make up the majority of Jess’ portfolio. It is like a mini-document of urban culture, which is fascinating to me. I wonder why the illustrator chose to draw this particular building over another for example. There seems to be something interesting about every subject chosen and that comes through to us, the viewer.
Thanks for getting in touch Jess!
