NASA Astronaut Leland Melvin tells us about readjusting to life on earth after a stay on the International Space Station. He shares the immense love and pride he felt seeing his family and friends again. How a walk on the beach, looking at the horizon, helped him to regauge his gyros. And how driving in his car made him rethink speed; the maximum speed limit being a far cry from the 17,500mph speeds he had become accustomed to.
Commissioned by Great Big Story, ‘Coming Home From Another World’ was animated by Detroit-based studio Gunner in collaboration with creative duo Eugene Carland. The team perfectly capture the beautiful moments Melvin recollects. Combining his initial disorientation and its collision with life on terra firma again.
